Hi everyone. Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at this five-digit combination lock from Front Runner. It's gonna be a coiled cable lock that you can use to lock up your accessories to the roof platform or just wherever you're using them. We're using it today on our roof platform with our shovel mount because there's no good way to lock this shovel down, and I wanna keep it safe. So a short lock like this is a great way to do that.

Let's check it out. So some of the things I like about this for the rooftop use is that everything is plastic or vinyl coated here. So if it does common contact with our paint on our vehicle, it's gonna be fine. And same for anything that we're hooking up to that might be sensitive. And the fact that it's so tightly coiled means it's gonna perform pretty well in this application where we have a lot of excess.

I can very easily tuck some of it to the top here and maybe even use something like a cam buckle strap to secure that excess to the shovel handle here so it's not dangling freely. So again, for the rooftop application like this, I think it can perform really well because of all that. Now, out of the box, it's gonna be coded with all zeros for the code, but you can change that pretty easily. But once you've got it set, it'll just pop out, and there's a small arrow and it says "set" right here. If I wanted to change the combination, I just rotate it in the direction of the arrow till it stops rotating, set my new combination and then turn it back to have that new code set.

So out of the box, it's gonna be really easy to set up and change to make sure that your stuff stays locked up securely. Fully stretched out this cable only reaches to about three feet and 10 inches in length, so it's not super long. And with how tight that coil is, you probably would have a lot of trouble stretching it to that full length. So just keep that in mind when you're picking this up and think about what you're gonna lock up with it. If you need something longer to lock up multiple items, then pick up a longer cable lock, or maybe just pick up more than one of these cables here.

And one thing that we're thinking about, because when you pull this into the unlock position, all of your numbers for the combination are on one side, and this part here is pretty generic, you could probably string multiple of these together and you could set them all to the same combination if you wanted. Could be an interesting way to get a little bit more length out of it. And that's all there is to it. It's a lock and it'll keep your stuff safe. I never say anything is thief proof. If someone really wanted to, yes, they could probably cut through that braided steel cable, just like they would with any other braided steel cable out there. More than anything though, it's a theft deterrent. It's gonna give me some peace of mind knowing that my stuff is locked up. And to a would-be thief, if they see something like this, they're a lot less likely to try to take your stuff because it's gonna be a whole heck of a lot more work to get this off, to then get the shovel off than it would be to just walk up and take the shovel if nothing was there. So I do think this cable lock from Front Runner could be a really great addition to your setup. Thanks for watching.
